Thankfully I didn't fall for their scam, at least I think I didn't. I had bought a Sonyo Incognito about a year ago and signed up with Boost. I was so happy with my phone and my plan. However, my husband received a Cricket Android phone for free, and it looked better than my Sonyo Incognito so we wanted to activate it. I, however, wanted to keep my old phone number with Boost for the same reasons mentioned above. That number is the number I had been using for business etc. Well, they gave me the same spew as above plus more. They told me that if I wanted to switch my old phone number from Boost to my Cricket Android, that I had to GIVE them my Sonyo Incognito! They showed me a box full of phones from other people that they do this to and I was appalled. I immediately knew it was wrong and I told her no! I paid too much for my Sonyo, I wasn't about to just GIVE them my phone unless they were going to pay me back for it. She said they don't do that, and if I want to keep my old number, I have to give them my old phone as well. I ended up just giving in and changing my number instead. I wish I had waited. I haven't used the phone yet as this is today and I am dreading, after reading all the comments, that my gut instinct are right and I just made a big mistake! Oh why did I switch from Boost?!! I was so happy with them! Service was great. Internet was fast. No hidden fees! Ugh!

we have that numbers for over ten years and we use that number for business. and trust me cricket won't stay that long in their business because they don't care at all about the customer.

Company responses
I bought into Cricket's Android Smartphone plan and requested my old number be ported in from Verizon. The number was transferred on May 6, 2011, howvever, Cricket has yet to activate my number on their network. I have made numerous calls to 611, had my calls escalated to Porting Dept, Systems Dept, and Customer Service. They promised 24-48 hour response, via text message, but have yet to contact me. I went into the store where I purchased the phone twice, the clerk was able to activate my ported number, but within 24 hours, my phone "was not authorized" for service. Since May 6, I have only had use of less than 2 hours airtime. I have submitted formal complaints to the California State Attorney's Consumer Fraud Division and will be filing a complaint with the FCC as well. Leap Wireless d/b/a Cricket Wireless was a $29 billion revenue maker in 2010, has only 1,450 employees and gains approximately 300,000 new customers monthly. This info is available on their investors page as of May 2011. FInancially speaking, Cricket / Leap is making lots of money in exchange for poor service and inflexible return policies. I urge you to file online complaints with your State Attorney Generals, the California Attorney General, and the FCC, if you want to stop fradulent business practices with Cricket and other companies who are not responsive to customer service issues.
